Ronimo Games wins big at fifth Dutch developer awards

Ronimo Games was the biggest winner at the fifth annual Dutch Game Awards, the developer awards for the Dutch game industry. The indie studio’s Awesomenauts won them three different awards, including the grand prize known as the Control Industry Award.

The award for Best Serious Game went to ‘The Explorer’, a game that both kids with or without eyesight can play together, made by the studios MAD Multimedia and Little Chicken. Best Advergame went to Red Bull Formula Face made by Xform, a racing game that allows players to place their own face on their in-game driver. It was the first actual award after many years of countless nominations for Xform.

It was also the first time a separate new award was handed out for best in-game animation, chosen by a jury of experts from the Dutch association of animation producers, the VNAP. The award went to the developer duo DoubleDutch for their animation work in Speedrunner HD.

The prize for best healthcare game, the Games for Health Europe Award, went to Amsterdam-based studio Flavour for their work on Ambulance Control. Game Oven won two awards for their debut game Fingle. Best Online Game went to ISOTX for their free-to-play RTS Iron Grip: Marauders.

Interwave Studios received the Best Original Game Design-award for Nuclear Dawn, a well executed RTS/FPS-hybrid.

The awards were handed out during the completely sold-out Control Industry Dinner that hosted over 300 guests (with the majority being game developers). The Dutch Game Awards are a co-production of Control Magazine and Game in the City.
